Our Mission

Broad Bay seeks to serve God and follow Christ as a progressive church in the greater Waldoboro area. Broad Bay’s ministry is to the community at large. We welcome people in times of crisis and celebration, seek partnerships with other community organizations, and work to share God’s love and acceptance. We welcome and celebrate people of every age, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious background, economic circumstance, and mental or physical ability to the spiritual life of the church as we join in sharing the life, leadership, and ministry of Broad Bay.  

A member of the United Church of Christ, Broad Bay covenants with local and national church bodies while also participating in a worldwide interfaith community.

Our Pastor

Reverend Nancy Duncan has served Broad Bay since 2004. A family therapist, she worked with at risk children for over 15 years. Nancy said, “People are searching for hope and transformation. Whatever their circumstance, I want people to know they are not alone.”

Broad Bay is active in serving our wider community

Broad Bay has a very active Outreach program

• Co-host the Monthly Free Community Meal on the third Thursday at 12 noon at the Methodist Church, Friendship St.

• Support many community partners including AA, Garden Club, Historical Society, New Hope for Women, Restorative Justice of Midcoast Maine.

• Provide financial support to local and worldwide ministries.

A Very Short History of Our Church

Jan. 30, 1983: The first service was held in a local home.
June 5, 1983: The Church moved to the Waldoboro Grange.
October 2002:  The Church purchased its present home, built 1838, from the First Baptist Church.
February 2008: Became an Open & Affirming Congregation.
